BROOKFIELD — Stephen J. Comtois II, a candidate for state representative in the 5th Worcester District, has turned in 572 certified signatures to the Secretary of State’s office, 422 more than are required to be on the ballot, according to his campaign.
A press release issued by Mr. Comtois said he not only exceeded the minimum requirement but also turned in more certified signatures than any other candidate for state representative, including incumbents.
State Rep. Anne M. Gobi, D-Spencer, has held the seat since winning an election in 2001 to fill the unexposed term of Barre Republican David Tuttle.
A formal campaign announcement for Mr. Comtois and a “meet-and-greet” will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. tomorrow at the North Brookfield American Legion, 163 North Main St., North Brookfield. More information about Comtois’ campaign can be found at www.stephencomtois.com.
The towns of Barre, Brookfield, Hardwick, New Braintree, North Brookfield, Petersham, Phillipston, Spencer’s precincts 2 and 3, Templeton, Ware’s precinct A and West Brookfield make up the district.
